Mission Statement:
The mission of the Dassel Elementary library media program is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information.
What the Media Center offers at Dassel Elementary:
Weekly check-out classes with each class section that model effective and enthusiastic use of books as sources of pleasure and information.
Media skills classes, developmentally appropriate to each grade level, that teach students to access, critique, and effectively apply information.
Collaboration with classroom teachers and other professionals to integrate media and technology into the curriculum to promote students' highest achievements.
Access to a full range of information through the vehicle of technology in the form of computer-based learning programs and websites, electronic networks, and databases.
Book clubs and other enrichment opportunities for students.
Meet Our Wonderful Staff
Doug Asquith: Media Center and Digital Learning Specialist
Doug was a classroom teacher before joining the staff at Dassel Elementary in the summer of 2016. Along with running the media center, he is also one of the district Gifted and Talented teachers which includes both 3rd and 4th-grade enrichment as well as 5th and 6th grade Odyssey. Outside of school, Doug is a football coach and track coach at Dassel Cokato High School. He lives in Dassel with his wife Kristin and two children. Favorite Book: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Kellie Eckroad: Title 1 and Media Center Paraprofessional
Kellie has been working/playing at Dassel Elementary for 15 years.She enjoys creating media center themes and other fun displays throughout the school. Kellie is also a care group leader and the 4th-grade patrol supervisor. One of her favorite books is The Incredible Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo.
Katelynn Meyers: Media Center Paraprofessional
Katelynn started at Dassel Elementary in 2017. One of her favorite books is
